The road in front of Frank’s house. Frank and Betty come along the road in the school uniform.

Some Dream Scenes

A very busy junction in the Bombay city. Frank is walking along the road with the school bag on his shoulder. Suddenly there is a shower and the people are running for to get under some roof. But Frank is walking on as if nothing had happened.

Another part of the city. The street is not so broad as the first. The shower has become more powerful. It is getting darker too, but he is still walking on.

Another part of the city. The street is still narrower. The rain has become more powerful. There is hardly any light. But Frank is still walking on.

The dirtiest and the narrowest part of the city. Thunder and lightening. It is raining very heavily. Frank enters a dirty shed on the side of the street.

Frank’s face close up. Complete darkness on the screen for one second. His dream starts.

Frank is standing in the desert. He is all alone. Tattered cloths. He looks around for help. Suddenly he sees a castle infront of him. Frank walk towards the castle, but the door is locked and bolted. He tries to push it to open. But he can’t. Suddenly the words of Fr. Williams are heard from the sound track and he looks back.

Frank tries to push the door with more self confidence. The door is opened automatically.

Frank enters the castle in great surprise.

It is the main hall of an ancient palace. Frank is standing at the door way looking into the hall. The “Swayamvara” (marriage) of Betty is going on inside the hall. She enters the hall followed by two lady attendants. There is a garland of flowers in her hand. As she comes to the centre of the hall, there is a great excitement among the kings who have come in the hope of marrying her. Betty stops as she comes near the first king, who is sitting in the throne in great expectation.

The first lady attendant : He is the king of Vanga. A great warrier he is. What about marrying
him?

Betty looks at the king carelessly and walks on. She stops when she reaches the second king.

The second lady attendant : He is the king of Kalinga. A great scholar he is. What about marry
him? (Betty looks at him carelessly and walks on. Suddenly she looks forward, she catches site of Frank standing at the door in tattered clothes)

Betty’s face close up. It is filled with the mixed feelings of sorrow and joy. Recovering herself from the first shock of surprise she rushes to Frank. Great confusion and disorder in the hall. Betty put the necklet of flowers on to his neck.

Frank : (looking into the hall) come on, let us go. It is highly dangerous if we stay on here.

Frank and Betty come running into a desert. Now he is wearing the costly dress of a prince as his old dress had already been changed the moment, Betty put the necklet on to his neck. Quite happily he looks into her eyes. He extends his arms to embrace her. But suddenly she disappears in the air and as he looks at his dress he learns that they have also changed to the old tattered one. Unable to bear the disappointment Frank falls down. After some times he hears a stranger’s voice from the sound track. Real daylight.

A police man : Get up, you boy.

Frank who has been sleeping in the shed by the side of the dirty street opens his eyes and finds a police man in daylight. Frank’s father and a police officer are standing by the side of the road looking at him.

John Mathews : (angrily) I will…..
The police officer: (preventing him) Don’t do any thing now.

Scene 75

The nurse hands him the blood report and goes. The doctor reads it silently, looks at Frank and then again looks at the blood report. Finally, he fixes his eyes again on Frank and says to the second doctor.

Frank’s face. Close up. He is twisting as if he had been beaten by a whip. His face. Big close up. He is again twisting. His face. Very big close up. He is twisting again. Along with the close ups the word of doctor are also repeated in echoing sound: HIV positive.

The inner room of the hospital. Frank is lying on the bed. Medium shot. Two nurses enter the room. The first nurse come with a syringe. Frank’s face looking at the syringe. Close up.

Next Dream

It is night. Some people are seen coming from a very long distance bearing torches in their hands. They are shouting and running, but the shapes are not easily distinguishable. Again the people bearing the torches coming in the direction of the camera. Long shot. This time we can see the shapes of a boy who is running away from them. Medium shot. This time we can recognize the boy who is running away. It is Frank. Frank running away looking back at them. Close shot. The people who are following him are wearing ancient types of dress with swords and spears in their hands. Close shot. Among them there are John Mathews, Fr. Antony and Ferdinand. They are shouting at Frank.

Fr.Antony : (shaking his spear) Catch him! Don’t let him go!

Frank reaches a very huge pit and he stops running at the brim of it. He looks back at the approaching enemies and thinks for a moment. Then suddenly he jumps into the pit, nothing is
heard for a second, but the sound of the fall is heard after a second, showing that the pit is a very deep one. Frank’s enemies reach the brim of the pit, look around angrily and look down into the pit..

Fr.Antony : (to John Mathews) You needn’t worry. We shall catch him the next time.

Complete darkness. Suddenly there is a spark of light. We see Frank’s face. He is in the middleof a forest. He looks around for help, but there is no body in the forest, except darkness. Suddenly the following words in English are heard from the sound track

“WHO ARE YOU”

Frank looks up at the direction of the sound. He sees the feet of a supernatural being. He looksup again. Oh! It is a devil, looking at him. Immediately Frank runs to the other side but he is met with another devil.
